If you are reading this page in hopes of receiving a qualifying spot for any of the above races, please make sure you read EVERYTHING on this page so you fully understand what to expect on race day.

2008!  This year together with Ironman North America we have streamlined the qualifying spot allocation in an effort to be as fair as possible to as many age groups as possible. For each Ironman Event (Canada, Lake Placid and Florida) we have allocated 1 spot for each 5 year age group. Any extra spots will be distributed to the next most competitive age groups. Allocation depends on the number of participants that compete on Muskoka Long Course Race Day. Typically the next highest age groups are men 30-49 (5 year age groups respectively). Any spots that go unclaimed will also be distributed this way.

ROLLDOWN WORKS THIS WAY…..

You must be there to obtain a spot. Even if you are first on the list. We will not hold spots or speed the process up for athletes unable to stay for rolldown (i.e.- flights home). Please plan accordingly!

  1. Sportstats (the timer) gives the results to Kevin (rolldown administrator).

  2. Kevin and a representative from Trisport decide how far down on the list he will call before spots are redistributed or go to lottery. This depends on finish times for the day. For example, 25 for men and 20 for women. We don’t know until race day.

  3. Kevin starts the whole procedure with a specific age-group (i.e. 20-24). The athlete gets to choose which race he or she wants as long as it is still available.

  4. If there is a spot(s) unclaimed after going down as far down on the list as previously determined, we then finish distributing all the other age-groups first then we redistribute them to the most competitive age-groups (those with the most people). This helps ensure the most qualified people get the spots.

After you get a spot you proceed to the application process. You must have appropriate payment at that time to be officially entered into the Ironman of your choice.

Trisport has 40 Ironman Canada Spots to give away. Therefore after each 5 year age group has a chance to claim their 1 allocated spot there are 22 more spots to be fairly distributed depending on athlete age group participation.

Trisport has 20 Ironman Lake Placid Spots to give away. Therefore after each 5 year age group has a chance to claim their 1 allocated spot there are 2 more spots to be fairly distributed depending on athlete age group participation. Remember that not every age group will want a spot and redistribution is highly likely.

Trisport has 20 Ironman Florida Spots to giveaway. Therefore after each 5 year age group has a chance to claim their 1 allocated spot there are 2 more spots to be fairly distributed depending on athlete age group participation. Remember that not every age group will want a spot and redistribution is highly likely.

This is all new for 2007 and we have worked hard to make this as fair as possible. Please keep checking back for up to minute detail changes as procedures are subject to change .  If you have any further questions with regards to the 2007 Qualifying procedure please contact Janet at jfraser@trisportcanada.com .
